SIMON PETER ATTAH-CATO -EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Simon Peter Kwadwo Attah-Cato is a professional educational administrator of the Ghanaian and British/Cambridge educational curricula in Ghana, sub-Saharan Africa. Simon joined AngloGold Ashanti Ghana as the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR of AGA Schools, Ghana, from 1st March, 2018. He currently supervises about 3,300 Students and up to 250 teaching and administrative staff in the two campuses of the AngloGold Ashanti Schools (AGA Schools) in Obuasi. He has over 24 years of professional teaching and school management, as well as curriculum development experience. Simon is a product of the University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast (M.Phil 2013, B.Sc-2006), University of Education, Winneba, Ghana (M.Ed in Educational Administration and Management- 2009), Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (MBA-2011) in Human Resource Development-2011. Simon completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honors degree from Kings University College, Accra in May, 2022. He is a member of the Principals’ Forum of British Curriculum Schools in Ghana, Association of Directors/Proprietors of the Association of International Certification Schools in Ghana (ASICS-GH) and he has mentored over 450 professional graduate teachers in Ghana. Simon Peter is a Lead Trainer of Cambridge/British Curriculum Schools during annual school conferences at the British Council, Accra. He previously successfully managed five well renowned Cambridge International and British Council Associate Schools in Accra between August, 2009 to February, 2018. The Schools are Galaxy International School, North Legon Little Campus, Trinity Lutheran School, Angels Specialist School and Royal Streams International School. Simon believes in teamwork, transformational leadership and the need to blend CPDs to service delivery.
Simon Peter has previously provided CPDs to Staff of the following ASICS Schools: 1. Galaxy International School (Primary Division), Accra. 2. North Legon Little Campus, North Legon, Accra. 3. Laurenda International School, Tamale. 4. Angels Specialist School International, Tema. 5. AngloGold Ashanti Schools, Ghana. Under the tenure of Simon Peter Kwadwo Attah-Cato, the AGA Schools’ enrolment has increased from 1,050 Students in 2018 to about 3,300 Students in 2023. Under the same period, the AGA Schools have won two Presidential Awards in the national BECE exams. |
MR. ROBERT DONKOR - SENIOR HEAD OF DEPARTMENT/ HEAD OF LOWER PRIMARY DEPARTMENT
Mr. Robert Donkor is an experienced educator dedicated to promoting academic excellence and personal growth among students. He began his educational journey at Akrokerri Teacher Training College, where he graduated in 2004 with a Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors in the field of education. He further advanced his expertise by earning a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Education, Winneba, in 2018. Currently, Mr. Donkor is pursuing a Master’s in Educational Innovations and Leadership Science at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
With 20 years of extensive and varied teaching experience, Mr. Donkor brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and innovative practices to his role as the Head of the Lower Primary Department. His illustrious career includes a year as the Acting Head of Amponyase M/A JHS, followed by two years as the Head of the Upper Primary Department at AngloGold Ashanti School (AGA School). Since 2016, he has led the Lower Primary Department at AGA School, where his leadership has been instrumental in driving academic success and promoting an engaging and supportive learning environment. In recognition of his exceptional leadership, Mr. Donkor was promoted to the position of Senior Head of Department in 2022, a role he continues to fulfill with dedication.
Mr. Donkor is highly regarded for his exceptional leadership and management skills, which have empowered him to effectively lead and inspire his department. His ability to cultivate strong, positive relationships with teachers, staff, and parents has been key to creating a cohesive and supportive educational community. A proponent of modern teaching methods, Mr. Donkor is proficient in integrating technology into the classroom, enhancing the learning experience for students. His expertise in lesson planning and implementation ensures that each lesson is thoughtfully designed to meet the diverse needs of all students.
As a passionate and dedicated educator, Mr. Donkor is deeply committed to the holistic development of every student under his care. His dedication is reflected in his strong work ethic, patience, and empathetic approach to teaching. Mr. Donkor’s relentless drive to inspire and nurture young minds ensures that every child receives the attention and support they need to thrive both academically and personally.
GEORGINA ANDOH-OWUSU- HEAD OF WILLIAMS & BREW SCHOOL
As a professional teacher, with over 14 years of experience, she has worked within the educational domain with leading Cambridge schools. She is highly skilled and qualified in teaching, school management, administration, and leadership. She is currently serving in her 5th year as Head of School of the Williams and Brew School, Obuasi. WB is a subsidiary of the AngloGold Ashanti Schools, Obuasi, which is accredited to run the Cambridge Curriculum. She was privileged to be part of the commencement of this school in September 2016 as an English and French Teacher. This was just after serving as French and English Teacher for 7 years at International Community School (ICS), Kumasi, from 2009 to 2016. ICS was a fertile ground to nurture her professional expertise and a great path to her teaching career. As Head of School, she has developed a culture of excellence that resonates with the staff she works with. This environment leads to all staff achieving objectives on time, marked by quality. She was awarded a certificate of excellence in 2019 by the PSGN for her work as Head of School. She graduated from the University of Education, Winneba, with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education in 2019. She obtained a Cambridge International Certificate in Teaching and Learning with distinctions in 2015 and a Diploma in 2017 from University of Cambridge. Her 1st degree was in the Social Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2009. Having completed over 30 modules, she continues to undertake Professional Development Courses with a leading-edge community of schools in cooperation with the British Council – the Partner Schools Global Network. Through PSGN, she keeps abreast with educational trends and engage with other professionals in the field to develop practices. ROBERT TAYLOR - HEAD OF JHS DEPARTMENT
Robert is a professional teacher with 27 years of teaching experience spread over five different schools. He is a graduate of the University of Education, Winneba where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed. Basic Education) July 2008. Akrokerri Training College, currently Akrokerri College of Education- for teacher’s Certificate A (3-Year Post Secondary), June, 1998. He had his basic level education in St. Thomas School, Obuasi and later joined Christ the King Catholic Secondary School, Obuasi for his O’Level Certificate in 1992. He’s been in active service since 1996, serving in five different schools including AGA School where he is currently serving as a member of the IMT and the Head of Department for the JHS department. Robert joined the AGA School in the 2010/2011 academic year and started as a class 2 teacher, he held the role of bus coordinator of the school monitoring the movement of the school buses to and from the school. He also served as the secretary to the staff taking minutes of staff meetings and also reporting on events of the school. In 2013, Robert joined the integrated Science team of AGA School at the JHS department, as Integrated Science teacher for JHS 2 until his appointment as Assistant HOD in 2019 and subsequently HOD in 2020. He’s been a team player and a party to the success story of the AGA School in relation with BECE over the years. |
MR. CHARLES OWUSU ANSAH - JHS DEPARTMENT
MRS MERCY HETTY OWUSU - HEAD OF UPPER PRIMARY DEPARTMENT
She started her basic education at Obuasi Methodist School. She then proceeded to TI Ahmadiyah Secondary School in the1982/83 academic year, where she studied General Arts as a major. She then furthered her education at Akokerri Training College, Akokerri, and subsequently had her tertiary education at University of Education, Winneba. She has been teaching since 1991. She started her teaching with Adaase L/A Primary School, and then moved to New Nsuta L/A Primary School where she handled various classes. She joined AGA School in 2010 as a basic 3 teacher and has since been doing exceptional work which caught the attention of management. Due to her excellence, she was promoted to the position of HOD of Upper Primary in 2021. She loves reading, teaching, cooking and spending time with her family. She is a Christian and worships with the Covenant House Chapel at Ridge where she serves as a Financial Secretary. |
BENEDICTA ACKAH – HEAD OF PRESCHOOL DEPARTMENT
Benedicta Ackah is the Head of the Preschool Department (AngloGold Ashanti School) whose work is to manage staff, make decisions concerning admissions, she’s responsible for meeting curriculum standards which are age-appropriate for Preschool Pupils and facilitate social and behavioral development education.Benedicta Ackah is a professional teacher with 29 years teaching experience, before becoming the Head of Preschool. After her O level education she gained admission to Akrokerri College of Education (1991 -1994). She holds a Degree in Education from the University of Education, Winneba.She is nice, fun and friendly person, honest and punctual, she work well in a team but also on her own as she like to set herself goals which she will achieve, and she has good listening and communication skills. She has a creative mind and always up for new challenges. She is well organized and always plan ahead to make sure she manage her time well.

STEPHEN OBENG - HEAD OF FINANCE
Steve, as popularly referred to, was born in Asokwa, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. He attended Kings International School where he wrote his Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE). He then proceeded to Kumasi Anglican Senior High School (KASS) for his secondary education and studied General Science. Steve gained admission into the Christian Service University College to pursue a four-year programme leading to the award of a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He won two academic Scholarships at the university for his outstanding academic performance and graduated with first-class honours. Steve got the opportunity to undertake his National Service with the Finance Department of AngloGold Ashanti Ghana, Obuasi Mines, as a Finance Officer and rotated within the Accounts Payables and Receivables Section. After National Service, he gained employment with Sinapi Aba Trust (now Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans) as a Programmes Officer at the company’s Head Office in Kumasi. He was in charge of managing a portfolio of schools that had been given financial support to expand their facilities. He was trained as a Trainer of Trainers for the company’s flagship programme, Social Performance Management, designed to train some selected staff of their various branches on this new approach to managing organizational performance. Prior to his departure from the company, he was nominated as an Accountant to manage and report on the financial performance for one of the company’s foreign donors. In 2013, Steve gained employment as the first Accountant and Administrator for the AngloGold Ashanti School, then a department within the Obuasi Mines. When the school became a wholly owned subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti Ghana, he became the substantive Accountant. He is currently the Head of Finance for both AGA and WB Schools. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Valley View University and also a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana. He is very attentive to details and very analytic. His passion is to help others improve and grow in their chosen area of specialization. |
ESTHERLLA ASARE - HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER/EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
She is an energetic and ambitious person who has developed a mature and responsible approach to any task that she undertakes.She holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with specialisation in Human Resource Management. As a graduate with seven (7) years experience in HR practice, and currently undergoing a six month Senior Professional in HR(SPHRi) at the HR Certification Centre, she is excellent at working with others to achieve a certain objective on time and with excellence. She is able to deal with issues competently, result oriented and works on own initiative or as part of a team who has good communication and human relation skills. An effective and confident communicator who is also a self-starter with the dedication and motivation required to succeed. Easy going by nature and able to get along with both work colleagues and Senior Managers when providing comprehensive administrative support to day-to-day operations. |
