DAILY GUIDE has gathered that the majority of pupils and residents at Kwahu Aprahwem in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region walk through Asona River due to the deplorable condition of the bridge which has been abandoned by the government.
The pupils at Aprehwiem have therefore called on the government to come to their aid by constructing the bridge which has been abandoned about five years.
Pupils and people who reside in the area have on several occasions complained about the situation but to no avail.
Little school-children were seen walking through Asona River after school when DAILY GUIDE visited the area to assess the situation.
The Asona River separates Aprahwiem and Kofi Dede community, and as a result the pupils walk through the river to get to the other community during the week.
The affected pupils told the paper that snakes and other dangerous animals could be found in the river.
According to them, teachers usually declare every rainy period as holiday since the river overflows its banks.
They took the opportunity to appeal to the government to come to their aid immediately to enable them pursue their education.
